SARAJEVO, August 2 (FENA) – The event “Defense of BiH - Igman 2019” was held on Mount Igman near Sarajevo, honoring the defenders of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the martyrs and killed soldiers of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Interior and surviving war veterans.
Honor was given to numerous veterans' organizations, representatives of all levels of government, artists and numerous citizens who attended the event for the occasion.
The defile of veterans of the Army of the RBiH and the Ministry of Internal Affairs was held, and the ceremony began with the intonation of the anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Addressing the guests, BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić, the holder of the biggest war recognition, the Golden Lily, said that Bosnia and Herzegovina, despite the fact that there are forces that falsify the truth about the war, has a future.
“We need to tell the young people the truth about what was happening. Our destiny depends only on us and the lessons learned from the past,” said Komšić, telling those who falsify the truth that they do not do so in the interest of the prosperity and future of the young generation.
Although they are not bidding war weapons today, Komšić added, there is still a silent, treacherous and reckless war against Bosnia and Herzegovina, but this country will not be allowed to die, the BiH Presidency Chairman concluded, in a location that was crucial for the defense of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the past war, because “if Igman had fallen, who knew how the war would end.”
