Komšić: Attacks on Bosnia and Herzegovina have not stopped to this day

MOSTAR, April 14 (FENA) - The BiH Presidency Member Željko Komšić said in Mostar on Thursday that today, after a distance of 30 years, it is safe to say that the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with the RBiH Interior Ministry, is the most responsible one for the survival of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He sent out a message that it is worth fighting for BiH and it is worth trusting the people who are sincerely fighting for it today.

"Deserted by the United Nations and left at the mercy of the aggressor, members of the BiH Army, in the beginning, almost without any means to fight and defend the state, made superhuman efforts to save their homeland, and they succeeded. There were moments, especially during the difficult 1993, when, due to the double-sided aggression on the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, everything seemed lost, but even then he did not lose heart or give up," said Komšić in his speech at the solemn academy on the occasion of the 30th anniversary Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He added that each of the seven corps of the BiH Army made a huge contribution to the defense of the homeland, emphasizing the importance of the Fourth Corps of the BiH Army, which, as he said, fought against two enemies almost throughout the war.

However, as he added, even thirty years later, the attacks on the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina have not stopped, they are only conducted by other means.

"The verdicts of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia are still being rejected, and based on what has been ruled, the policies of some parties in the country are still being conducted and implemented, supported by policies outside the country," he emphasized.

He also mentioned that the verdict against the "Six" established that there was an international armed conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the state of occupation, "in a way that neighboring Croatia carried out control through local bodies in the so-called Herceg-Bosna."

"The aim of this joint criminal enterprise, according to the judgment, was to establish an ethnically clean entity, at least partly within the borders of the 1939 Banovina of Croatia and its annexation to Croatia, in order to re-establish the alleged unification of the Croatian people in the event of disintegration of Bosnia and Herzegovina, so that it becomes an independent state within Bosnia and Herzegovina, closely tied to Croatia," he said.

If this, says Komšić, is compared with today's policies of the HDZ BiH, and "especially with the views we hear from official Zagreb, the conclusion is that these are the same policies, i.e. the continuation of the joint criminal enterprise in peacetime, through limited reform of the Constitution and electoral legislation of Bosnia and Herzegovina."

"How else to understand such an aspiration for ethnically clean constituencies, related to the parts of the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina from which the so-called legitimate political representatives of the constituent peoples would be elected?" asked Komšić.

He also touched on the story about the reform of the election legislation, which, as he assessed, can only be done if European standards are fully applied, i.e. in accordance with what is asked in the Opinion of the European Commission and judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.

"And you know what the problem is? Those who would further ethnically divide this country and deliver our state sovereignty to neighboring Croatia and Serbia, giving them unlimited political power to govern our Bosnia and Herzegovina, will not accept something like that," he said.

According to Komšić, we must say a resounding "no" to such politics and stop any further ethnic and territorial division of the country in order to preserve the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"It can be preserved and even improved in only one way, and that is if all its citizens have the same rights, that we organize the country as a state of equal citizens, regardless of their ethnic, religious or cultural affiliation. This is the ideal of a civic Bosnia and Herzegovina in which we are all equal, and thus it does not annul, usurp, or encroach on anyone's ethnic or religious identity," said Komšić.

He concluded that it is worth fighting for BiH and it is worth trusting the people who are sincerely fighting for it today.

"There are enough of them, and they will exist as long as the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina exists," concluded Komšić.
