SC government getting EUR 15 million loan from EBRD to buy trolleybuses

SARAJEVO, August 15 (FENA) - Sarajevo Canton Government determined at today's continuation of the 33rd session Proposal Decision on Loan in accordance with Loan Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the implementation of the project "Public Transport Sarajevo", and submitted it to the Sarajevo Canton Assembly for the consideration and adoption.

“It is EUR 15 million loan from EBRD. Negotiations on the realization of this amount were held at the end of last month, and we agreed on the texts of the draft of three contracts. The repayment period of this loan is 15 years, with a two-year grace period,” explained Minister of Finance Amel Kovačević.

Funds will be used for procurement of new electric trolleybuses, as one of the primary goals of this Government is to improve and develop public transport infrastructure in SC by purchasing environmentally friendly vehicles.

“The aim of this project is to raise the quality of public transport to the level of European standards, protect the environment, improve safety of working staff and users of transport services, as well as increase economic competitiveness,” said Minister of Transport Adnan Šteta.
