Košarac - Vuković: Foreign trade slowed down but not stopped

SARAJEVO, March 20 (FENA) – BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Staša Košarac, spoke with President of the BiH Foreign Trade Chamber, Vjekoslav Vuković, about the foreign trade of BiH under the circumstances of the spread of coronavirus.

At the meeting, it was emphasized that foreign trade has been partially slowed down but was not stopped due to coronavirus outbreak situation. 

The interlocutors stated that there was decrease in the volume of foreign trade by three percent in the first two months of 2020 compared to the same period last year. They emphasized that trade of goods is functioning without problems, provided that in some CEFTA countries there are certain restrictions.  

Košarac and Vuković assessed the measures implemented so far, carried out in the context of the spread of coronavirus, and emphasized the need to expand additional measures in the financial sector, such as banking products, including guarantees.

Košarac announced that a working group meeting to monitor the effects of coronavirus on overall economy in BiH will be held in the next few days, which was set up at the request of the Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers, in coordination with the Prime Ministers of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH.
