Bakir Izetbegović waives two-thirds of salary to help the most vulnerable

SARAJEVO, March 23 (FENA) - Bakir Izetbegović, President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) and Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, today signed a statement demanding that he be waived two-thirds of his net salary in the BiH Parliament and pay for charity.

Izetbegović signed the statement and submitted it to the Finance Sector of the BiH Parliament.

In a statement, he demanded that two-thirds of his salary, starting in March 2020 until further notice, while the extraordinary circumstances caused by the coronavirus pandemic, be paid into the account of the Muslim humanitarian society Merhamet. He also requested that the money be paid to help soup kitchens in the RS entity.

“This is at the same time my call for the reduction of high salaries at all levels of government and in public sector, so that funds are channeled into solidarity funds and to those who need them most,” Izetbegović told FENA.
