SARAJEVO, December 20 (FENA) - The European Movement in Bosnia and Herzegovina presented the Order of the People and the Citizens of BiH to the Ambassador of the United States of America to BiH Eric Nelson in Sarajevo today.
As it was stated during the ceremony, the Order was awarded for special merits in strengthening friendship and cooperation between our peoples, preserving peace in BiH, helping the successful implementation of the election process in the City of Mostar in 2020 and developing respect, tolerance and human rights.
The medal was presented to him in the presence of representatives of parliamentary institutions and a limited number of invited guests, adjusted to health measures due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The European Movement in BiH has been awarding the Order on behalf of the people and citizens of BiH since 2010. The first recipient was Tanja Fajon, a member of the European Parliament, who along with the then High Representative lobbied the most for the abolition of the visa regime for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ambassador Nelson is the first diplomat from the United States to be awarded the Order of the European Movement in BiH.
