SARAJEVO, February 7 (FENA) - The 38th edition of the International Sarajevo Winter Festival under the motto "Inhale, Exhale, Breathe" has officially opened this evening.
The opening ceremony, held tonight at the Hall of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, sent messages of peace, unity and dialogue, whose strongest ambassadors are fans of culture and art.
The festival was declared open by the director of Festival and the International Center for Peace Ibrahim Spahić, for whom the head of the UNESCO Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina Siniša Šešum, in his address to the guests, said that the "Sarajevo Winter has been a constant for the past 38 years".
The participants reminded that this festival has been held continuously since its inception, bringing hundreds of artists to the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, advocates of the interpenetration of cultures, dialogue and peace and resisting all temptations, including the siege of Sarajevo in the 1990s and the global reality of the pandemic.
The opening ceremony of the 38th Sarajevo Winter, sponsored by the Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić, was held in the presence of honorary guests and friends of Sarajevo from Turkey, the United States and Italy and guests from Bosnia and Herzegovina, city and state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Traditionally, the Sarajevo Winterm Festival lasts from February 7 to the first day of spring, March 21.
