SARAJEVO, March 11 (FENA) - President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović said that the Presidency of that party, which met today in Sarajevo, gave full support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

He added that the SDA Presidency called on all political factors in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region to make additional efforts to preserve stability and peace through responsible policies.

They also called on state institutions to be responsible in the new situation, in the interest of all citizens, and to expect police and security agencies to act preventively.

Izetbegović emphasized that they welcomed the increased presence of EUFOR in BiH and underlined the NATO mandate, which is regulated by the Annex to the Dayton Peace Agreement, and confirmed by the unanimously adopted UN Security Council resolution.

He also stressed that they called for an unconditional internal unblocking of BiH institutions, as the circumstances of the global security economic crisis calls for it.

- We cannot oppose what is coming, without the efficient work of state institutions - he said.

Izetbegović added that they welcomed the clear positions precisely stated at the session of the European Parliament, as well as the Draft Resolution sent to the US Senate, which clearly stated what the causes were and who were the main culprits for the political crisis in BiH.

He stressed that they called on the RS representatives in the Fiscal Council to stop obstructing the creation of the fiscal framework and enable the adoption of the state-level budget, and thus the holding of the October elections.

- We welcomed the adoption of the law in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, which are part of the 14 priorities of the European Commission and one of the preconditions for obtaining candidacy status - he pointed out.

They expect the European Commission to grant that candidate status after the laws are confirmed by the House of Peoples, and he said that the session of that house should be scheduled next week.

Finally, they welcomed the efforts of the FBiH Government to create commodity reserves and expressed expectations that these activities will be intensified to ensure the necessary supplies of food and energy, as well as the appointment of the Government of Tuzla Canton.

Asked whether there is a possibility of BiH gaining candidate status, Izetbegović believes that the situation in Ukraine has made the European Union more serious on various issues, including the admission of new members, ie that it will have a different attitude towards BiH.

- I expect that we will get the candidate status, meaning, that in this situation they will lower the scale of requests for BiH - Izetbegović concluded.
