SARAJEVO, April 14 (FENA) - The BiH Foreign Minister Bisera Turković addressed today Croatian MEP Željana Zovko regarding her earlier statements and underlined that the Srebrenica genocide is not a myth, but an established and adjudicated genocide, the greatest crime on European soil since World War II.

Turković added that the statements of the MEP from Croatia, Željana Zovko, which were made on the Croatian Radio Television (HRT), were an insult to all victims of genocide. She has condemned Zovko's statement in which she blamed the genocide victims that they are "building myths in BiH on the history of genocide and suffering."

"With these shameful allegations, Zovko has tried to explain why some EU member states refuse to accept discriminatory proposals for electoral reform and demand respect for European and human rights standards.

It has not been recorded in history that an entire nation, which was a victim of genocide, is being disqualified, discredited and prevented from fighting for European and human rights principles for all its citizens, precisely because it was a victim of the worst crime in human history," said Turković.

Turković noted that the majority of the BiH population is asking for the application of the same democratic standards applied in European countries, which, after all, is what has been requested from BiH by the European Court of Human Rights and all relevant institutions.

"And, as a justification for further ethnic divisions through the election law, Zovko accuses the victims of 'building myths' and shifts the blame from the criminals to the victim.

Officials of the Republic of Croatia have recognized the genocide in Srebrenica, Croatian presidents paid tribute to the victims at the Memorial Center in Potočari, therefore, this behavior and statements made by Croatian MP in the European Parliament are surprising and an unacceptable precedent that threatens to disrupt relations between the two countries," added Turković.
