SARAJEVO, August 16 (FENA) – American Academy Award-nominated actor, director, playwright and author Jesse Eisenberg, received the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award for his outstanding contribution to art of film last night at the Coca-Cola Open Air Cinema.
The award was presented to him by the director of the Sarajevo Film Festival, Jovan Marjanović, ahead of the screening of the film "When You Finish Saving the World", Eisenberg's directorial feature debut, noting that Jesse is a well-known actor, from smaller projects in which he played to superhero films.
Eisenberg thanked the entire SFF team for hosting him, stressing that Sarajevo is his favorite city in the world and that he wanted to come back here for so long.
“I even bought a plane ticket in 2020. But then everything closed. I am very excited to be here and I am honored to receive this award. Finally, I just want to thank you for coming to the movie tonight. I didn't realize there would be so many people. If I had, I would have made a better film. Sorry for that and thank you,” said Eisenberg.
Eisenberg's directorial debut "When You Finish Saving the World," an A24-distributed title, premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival to glowing reviews. It was shown as a part of Critics Week at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.
The film follows Evelyn (Julianne Moore) a woman devoted to helping people fallen on hard times, but who struggles to connect with her son Ziggy (Finn Wolfhard), an aspiring internet star oblivious to the problems of the world.
This emotional comedy-based on the Audible Original of the same name, also written by Eisenberg reveals a funny and sharply perceptive portrait of a mother and son who may seem at odds but who are more alike than either would care to admit.
