OLOVO, August 21 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić attended yesterday the 30th anniversary of the arrival of the 1st Independent Sokolac Battalion on the battlefield in Kruševo near Olovo.
On that occasion, Komšić addressed the gathered citizens.
“Thank you for the opportunity and honor to spend some time together today. I remember this unit from the war, from the moments that were important for Bosnia and Herzegovina, from the moments when the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina set out to liberate its territory. What I have seen and witnessed when it comes to you is worth of great respect. In the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, each unit was significant in its own way and each had its own role, and there were also units such as the Sokolac Independent Battalion, such as the Ilijaš brigade, which were units composed of people who were expelled from of their hearths,” said Komšić, announced his Office.
“I want to thank you for telling people who you are, what do you represent, and what you were like. This place is not only to gather and talk, this place is worth remembering those who gave their lives for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to say thank you to them. We want to thank their families and mothers for giving birth to such sons and daughters, and it's up to us to tell younger generations as long as we can, about how valuable everything we did during that period is,” said Komšić
He said that BiH is maybe not the kind of country we imagined, but whatever it is, it's ours.
“We can proudly say that we did the right thing for our families and for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and for our homeland. We did not give up when it was more difficult than it is today, and then this is an opportunity to say that we will never give up the fight for this country,” said Komšić.
