SARAJEVO, August 31 (FENA) - Mayor of the Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, today hosted the ambassadors of Bulgaria, Iran and Libya in Sarajevo's Alley of Ambassadors promenade, where they planted three new linden trees.

In this way, the 20-year tradition of planting linden trees in the Alley of the Ambassador continued, which as of today has 232 trees.

Linden trees were planted today by Reza Ghelichkhan, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Valeri Ivanov Yotov, Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria and Ahmed M.A. Benghali, Ambassador of the State of Libya.

Hadžibajrić informed the ambassadors about this interesting project, and that their predecessors also planted linden trees during their mandates.

Ghelichkhan is the sixth ambassador of Iran, a country that has its own tree in the Alley of Ambassadors.

- Iran was the first country to open a diplomatic mission and send its ambassador after BiH gained its independence. The six Iranian trees in Ambassador's Alley are proof of the great friendship between Iran and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and I would like to sincerely thank the mayor of the municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, for this opportunity - said Ambassador Ghelichkhan.

Ambassador Yotov emphasized that Bulgaria was the first to recognize Bosnia and Herzegovina after the declaration of independence.

- Bulgaria and Bosnia and Herzegovina are friendly countries that cooperate in all areas. We are proud that Bulgaria is the first country to recognize the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina 30 years ago, and the tree planted today marks that significant anniversary - said Yotov.

The newly appointed Ambassador of Libya to BiH Ahmed M.A. Benghali pointed out that he has special ties with our country.

- I returned to Sarajevo with great pleasure after 37 years of living and studying here. I carry with me the best impressions of this people and I proudly point out that Bosnia and Herzegovina is another country for me - Ambassador Benghali concluded, it was announced from the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo.
