SARAJEVO, September 8 (FENA) - Managing Director of Elektroprivreda BiH Admir Andelija said today in Sarajevo that electricity cannot be an alternative to heating energy.

"That is neither economically, nor technologically, nor ecologically acceptable," Andelija pointed out.

He explained that our thermal blocks are old and that their degree of utilization is about 30 percent, which means that out of 1,000 tons of coal, only about 300 are converted into energy, and the rest is a loss.

Andelija underlined that electricity cannot be used as an energy source for heating, except in exceptional situations that last only a few days.

"This happened in previous years due to unforeseen circumstances when the basic source of energy was missing, but electricity is not the dominant means of heating anywhere," said Andelija.
