Tegeltija and Von der Leyen open newly constructed Ivan Tunnel at section Tarčin-Ivan

SARAJEVO, October 28 (FENA) - The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zoran Tegeltija, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, today officially opened the newly constructed Ivan Tunnel and the section of the Tarčin-Ivan motorway on the Vc Corridor.

The mentioned section is 6.9 kilometers long and includes the two-pipe Ivan tunnel with a length of 1,760 meters.

The value of the contract for the construction of the sub-section Tarčin - the entrance to the Ivan tunnel is 66,584,028.92 euros without VAT, and it was financed with the funds of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and EU grants provided within the framework of the Connectivity Agenda through the Investment Framework for Western Balkans (WBIF) of 11.7 million euros.

The Ivan tunnel is a two-pipe tunnel with two lanes each and passes through the Ivan-Sedlo mountain pass. The total length of the right tunnel tube is 1721.50 meters, while the left tunnel tube is 1761.50 m long and is positioned under the existing Ivan tunnel on the M-17 highway. The altitude at this location ranges from 500 to 1,020 m, and the maximum height of the upper layer above the tunnel construction is about 200 m.

The value of the contract for the construction of the Ivan tunnel amounts to EUR 57,628,570.37 without VAT. The funds were secured through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the amount of 50 million euros and the European Union grants of 11.4 million euros approved under the WBIF.

The contract for the construction of the motorway on Corridor Vc, section Tarčin - Konjic, subdivision Tarčin - Ivan, LOT 1, Tarčin - entrance to the Ivan Tunnel was signed on August 24, 2020.

The contractor is a consortium consisting of Euro-Asfalt d.o.o. Sarajevo (BiH) and Granit AD Skopje (North Macedonia). Construction supervision is carried out by the IGH Institute, d.d. Zagreb (Croatia).
