SREBRENICA, July 10 (FENA) – Ultramarathon runners from Ovčara arrived in Potočare to pay tribute to the innocent victims as part of the commemoration of the 28th anniversary of genocide in Srebrenica.
They ran in five stages and covered a section of 227 kilometers. Four ultramarathon runners Dražen Ćućić, Robert Kasumović, Boban Pantović and Mirsad Softić ran the entire section and they were joined by other runners in Zvornik who ran with them to Potočari.
Boban Pantović from Belgrade is participating in the ultramarathon for the third time.
"This place is a stream of tears for me and that is the only right name. The international community made big mistakes and they continue to do so today because the problems that are still simmering are not being solved. We must educate and raise children in the right way and nurture love in them. Such crimes can be committed by evil people. We speak with our heart, soul, and silence while we run," said Pantović.
Mirsad Softić from Zenica participated in the ultramarathon for the first time this year.
"I am honored to be here today with these heroes who presented the race and a special honor that we dedicated our race to the victims of Vukovar and Srebrenica. My message is a message of peace so that this is not forgotten and that we must pass on memories in this way, and by no means spread hatred, and tell young people not to divide themselves into national corps,” said Softić.
Ultramarathon runner Robert Kasumović from Osijek says that they set out five days ago to commemorate and remember all the victims of Ovčara and Srebrenica.
"It is a difficult and demanding race, but believe me, with every step we pay tribute to innocently killed civilians. We want to draw attention so that the victims are not forgotten and something like that does not happen again," said Kasumović.
The ultramarathon was organized by the Council of the Bosniak National Minority of the City of Zagreb on the occasion of marking the 28th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide in memory of the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica, the victims of Vukovar and all the innocent victims of the war from 1990 to 1995 in the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
