SARAJEVO, January 24 (FENA) - Swedish Ambassador to BiH Anders Hagelberg today visited the Anti-Corruption Agency of BiH in East Sarajevo, where he met with the Director of this institution Hasim Šabotić and his deputy Dragan Slipac.
Šabotić and Slipac informed Ambassador Hagelberg about the scope of work and legal competencies of the institution and presented the results of the Agency's work and planned activities for the upcoming period.
The heads of the Agency briefed the Ambassador about the obstacles they face in their work, but also about the problems that BiH faces when it comes to the fight against corruption.
Swedish Ambassador underlined the need for the rule of law as the key to fighting corruption, and pointed to the importance of transparency in the work of institutions and free access to information, which, as he said, is at an extremely high level in Sweden.
The Ambassador stressed the unreserved support for the Agency's work as a service for the citizens and stressed that the existence of this and other institutions is very important for the integration of BiH into the EU.
The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of citizens' opinion, as well as the necessity that political elites fight against corruption, stated the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of the Fight against Corruption.
