MOSTAR, January 29 (FENA) - Since October 14, 2017 up to date, 1645 cases of diseases similar to flu and 25 cases of flu have been registered in the region of the Herzegovina-Netretva Canton, told Fena the Head of the Epidemiological Service of the Public Health Institute of HNC, Dr. Erdin Alajbegovic.
The largest number of flu cases, i.e. 24, have been recorded in Mostar, while one case was registered in Citluk.
Dr Alajbegovic added that there were no cases of flu confirmed in other municipalities.
"According to the data from the Clinic for Infectious Diseases at the University Clinical Hospital Mostar, there are also hospitalized persons, but they are elderly and people with poor immune status," Dr Alajbegovic concluded.
According to his words, the number of flu -like illnesses as well as influenza has slightly increased in comparison to the same period of the previous year.
In order to reduce the risk of flu, epidemiologists recommend the use of vitamin supplements and immune-boosting preparations, as well as the avoidance of closed spaces where a large number of people gather.
