SARAJEVO, April 25 (FENA) - The Head of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and EU Special Representative to BiH Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark said in a speech to the Sarajevo Business Forum that BiH, along with the rest of the region, was coming closer the European Union.
“A summit on the future of the EU and the Western Balkan countries will be held in Sofia soon, with a focus on linking the region's economies, which is why the SBF slogan "One region, one economy" is very appropriate and comes in a good time,” Mr. Wigemark said.
He pointed out that the future of BiH and the region was primarily in improving relations and demolishing the borders that were erected 25 years ago as a result of a terrible war.
Mr. Wigemark specified that the Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers had given a good overview of the macroeconomic situation, but that at the micro level there is still a lot of work to be done to improve the business environment.
"We want to see this region as part of the European Union, we also want good relations with Turkey, which I consider to be part of Europe, and that is why we all have to work together," Mr. Wigemark said.
He emphasized that he was optimistic and believes that BiH is at a turning point when there are many opportunities before of it, such as the EU membership and a serious investor interest, and that the European integration process will help in the advancement and the reduction of administrative obstacles.
