SARAJEVO, March 22 (FENA) - Director of the Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA) Arif Nanić confirmed in a statement for FENA that a contract has been signed today with the most favorable bidder in the public procurement procedure for the passport booklets.

There was a real danger that the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina could again be left without being able to obtain new passports because the procurement was questionable due to complications in the procedure initiated by the Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Data Exchange of BiH (IDDEEA).

"After many years of appeals, the IDDEEA has successfully completed the process of the procurement of passport booklets and officially concluded a framework agreement with the company Muehelbauer Banja Luka, as the most favorable bidder, for a period of four years," Nanić explained.

This practically means, he pointed out, that the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are guaranteed to have no problems with requesting and issuing new passport documents for the next four years.

"After seven complaints were filed, which the IDDEEA determined to be unfounded, and which was confirmed by the BiH Complaints Review Office, the process was successfully completed," Nanić concluded.

Namely, the Agreement on Procurement of Passport Booklets expired on March 2, and the IDDEEA initiated the procedure of public procurement of passport booklets on April 28, 2021, for which the tender documentation was published on April 29, 2021, but at different stages of the procedure, seven complaints were filed.

"The Office for the Review of Complaints has been deciding on each complaint for almost two months on average, regardless of numerous requests from the Agency to act urgently and appeals of the Agency to numerous consequences that may occur if the procedure is not completed in time,"  the agency told FENA earlier.
