SARAJEVO, May 29 (FENA) - Most of the institutions from the security sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina, included in the research, received a medium grade for the level of transparency in public procurement, which leaves a lot of room for progress in this regard since it is a sector that should to be an example to other institutions in the country when it comes to business transparency, it was pointed out today during the presentation of the Report prepared as part of the project "Future professionals for more transparent public procurement - Transpire", which launched the conference "Challenges of public procurement in the security sector of BiH".

At the conference, which was organized by the Center for Security Studies (CSS), with the financial support of the US State Department, the findings of the research on the transparency of 12 institutions of the security sector in BiH, which refers to public procurements realized during 2020 and 2021, were presented.

As the CSS president Denis Hadžović told journalists on that occasion, the aforementioned project is focused on two goals, one is to show civil society's interest in the state of the security sector in all phases of public procurement, and the other concerns the education of young people for roles in within civil society, and in an effort to improve the transparency of institutions and strengthen trust in their work.

The presented report, which refers to a two-year period, was made on the basis of qualitative and quantitative parameters based on which the anti-corruption capacities (anti-corruption index) of 12 institutions of the security sector at different levels of government in BiH were measured and evaluated.

The research included an analysis of relevant laws, regulations, practices and challenges in public procurement, and identified 'critical points' with a focus on transparency and appropriate recommendations for improving the situation in this regard.
