RSNA postpones the implementation of conclusions on the transfer of competencies

BANJA LUKA, June 6 (FENA) - The National Assembly of Republika Srpska (RSNA) at THE 31st special session held yesterday adopted a set of conclusions over the only item on the agenda on the international, political and security situation and the place and role of Republika Srpska in it. 

In the first conclusion, it is stated that the National Assembly of the RS considers that the neutral position regarding the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the opposition to the imposition of sanctions on the Russian Federation are "in the interest of Republika Srpska".

Ten more conclusions were adopted at the session, and in one of them, the National Assembly states that the application of the conclusions regarding the Information on the transfer of competencies from the state level to the RS, from December 10, 2021, has been postponed for six months.

"The RS remains committed to preserving peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region through cooperation on regional integration and security initiatives and supports BiH's engagement in the Open Balkan initiative."

The National Assembly states that the decision-making on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is within the competence of the Presidency of BiH and that the Presidency of BiH has not made a decision on imposing sanctions on the Russian Federation.

The Assembly asks the representatives of the entity of Republika Srpska in the BiH institutions to vote against the imposition of sanctions on the Russian Federation and to represent "a neutral position of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, in accordance with the protection of the interests of Republika Srpska."

The National Assembly believes that the ALTEA mission is needed in order to preserve peace and stability and that it should remain in Bosnia and Herzegovina in accordance with the mandate given to it by the resolution of the United Nations Security Council.

These conclusions will come into force on the day following the day of their adoption, the statement said.
