SARAJEVO, July 20 (FENA) - Hamed Ramić, managing director of the company Euro-asfalt, Sarajevo which is the contractor on the project of building the Ivan tunnel, signed today in Sarajevo employment contracts with ten of the 25 young people who will work on the construction of this section on the Corridor Vc.

The job will be given to five people with a university degree for a period of one year and 20 people with a high school diploma for a period of six months. The contractor selected the candidates according to the needs on the construction site, and technical and professional assistance was provided by the FBiH Employment Agency.

The signing of the contract, as pointed out, is the result of partnership between the FBiH Motorways and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The program and approved credit lines for the construction of the motorway aim to stimulate the employment of young people in BiH with this innovative financial instrument.

Concrete support to the local economy in solving social and economic problems will be possible through credit lines from the EBRD for the construction of two more sections Poprikuša-Nemila and Mostar South-Tunnel Kvanj, where another 50 young people will be employed.

“The works are progressing faster than planned and we hope that we will do the job before the deadline. We have 1,100 workers in total, of whom 200 are engineers. We will provide full education to young people who have signed contracts, and among them is a geologist, and traffic and mechanical engineers, and as far as secondary education is concerned, they are mostly construction and mechanical, and electrical technicians because it is in line with our needs,” said Ramić.

Among the young people who signed the contract is Adela Salkić, a geology engineer.

“I have been with the unemployment bureau for two years and for me this is a great chance to use the knowledge acquired at the university and upgrade it with new practical knowledge. It is especially important because it is one of the largest construction companies in BiH, and a large project on the construction of the Vc Corridor,” said Salkić.

Director of the EBRD Office for BiH, Manuela Naessl, sent congratulations to the signatories via video link.

“In the current economic situation in which a large number of young people have lost their jobs or find it difficult to find a job and gain their first work experience, it is especially important to open opportunities for their training and employment, and for them to gain new knowledge and experience,” said Naessl, noting that large public construction projects are a great generator of employment.
