SARAJEVO, August 2 (FENA) - In connection with the news pieces published by some media outlets, that "HDZ's Minister of Finance Vjekoslav Bevanda transfers competencies from the state to the entities, for international treaties on double taxation", the ministry points out that "they believe that this is the case of either basic ignorance or, more likely, the previously known and recognized presentation of untrue facts and inappropriate hoaxes addressed to the incumbent Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH".
In the response, the Ministry emphasized that there is no transfer of competencies, because "every informed person knows that direct taxes are under the jurisdiction of the entities and the Brčko District, which is, after all, the basis of the double taxation agreement".
"All procedures for exemption from paying taxes or reduction of the tax base are conducted before the entity's and the Brčko District's tax authorities, as well as the residency procedure for taxpayers and the issuance of certificates that are a precondition for the agreement to enter into force," it was pointed out in the statement.
