SARAJEVO, March 17 (FENA) - Benjamin Mehanović, a boy who was selling tea on the street and thus collected significant funds to help the victims of the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria, today received a scholarship awarded by the Foundation for Education Development Sarajevo.

After the solemn ceremony at the International University in Sarajevo (IUS), Benjamin said that he was looking forward to the scholarship and that he is always there to help.

“I would like to be a medical student because I like to help people,” Benjamin said.

After watching television with his mother and seeing the shocking scenes from Turkey and Syria after the earthquake, 12-year-old Benjamin came up with the idea of setting up his stand in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Dobrinja, where he sold tea and collected money to help earthquake victims.

Benjamin's father, Edin Mehanović, said that he was pleasantly surprised by the scholarship, and that the whole family was proud of Banjemin's gesture and that everyone supported him in his efforts to help the victims of the earthquake.
