SARAJEVO, May 31 (FENA) - The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nenad Nešić, opened today in Sarajevo the Regional Meeting of the Initiative for Disaster Preparedness and Prevention in Southeast Europe.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has been a member of the Southeast European Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Initiative (DPPI) for 22 years and during this period has significantly contributed to the strengthening of regional cooperation in this area.
Through a regional approach, DPPI member states strive to prevent or mitigate the consequences of natural and other disasters, primarily through the exchange of information and training for planning and implementing measures to protect against earthquakes, floods, fires, pollution, radiological hazards and industrial disasters.
Nešić reminded that Bosnia and Herzegovina and DPPI do not yet have a ratified agreement on cooperation, but that they will try to remove the difficulties that existed in the past regarding the ratification and entry into force of this document.
