SARAJEVO, March 13 (FENA) - Chairman of the Joint Committee on Defense and Security of BiH Sifet Podžić and members of the Committee Fahrudin Radončić, Šemsudin Mehmedović and Mario Karamatić met today with the NATO HQ Commander in Sarajevo, Brigadier General Robert Huston.
During the meeting, attended by the parliamentary military commissioner Boško Šiljegović, the officials exchanged information on the activities and plans of the Joint Committee and the NATO HQ in Sarajevo for the ongoing year.
Members of the Joint Committee stressed that this year the defense sector will focus on monitoring the public procurement process and spending of budgetary funds, as well as activities on destruction of surplus weapons, ammunition and mine-explosive devices.
According to the plan for this year, the Joint Committee will also deal with the state of human rights in the BiH Armed Forces, which, as pointed out, has recently recorded a worrying trend of professional personnel leaving their high level engagements, stated the BiH PA Press Service.
