A mural that celebrates war criminal Ratko Mladić erected in Kalinovik

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, May 11 (FENA) - The association "Truth - Kalinovik ‘92" expressed outrage and concern over a placement of a concrete slab beside the road when entering the town of Kalinovik with a painted mural celebrating war criminal Ratko Mladić.

“We are in disbelief that the mayor of Kalinovik municipality Mileva Komlenović and her deputy Radomir Sladoje allowed the mural of a war criminal to be erected in the first place.

The Bosniaks of Kalinovik were imprisoned, tortured, killed and expelled from their homes in the last war,” reads the statement.

By this very act, the association points out, the municipal authorities in Kalinovik have sided with war criminals and continue to inflict emotional suffering and pain on the members of the families of the murdered civilians of Kalinovik.

“During the war, 122 Bosniaks were killed in Kalinovik, of whom, 79 mortal remains have been found and the remains of 43 persons are still missing. More than 1,000 Bosniaks, including the population of Trnovo, Foča, Gacko, went through the concentration camps in this region,” they stressed.

All those detainees went through unprecedented torture, beating, rape and murder in the town of Kalinovik. For the war crimes in Kalinovik, several criminals were sentenced to a total of 82 years in prison.

The association calls on all democratic forces in the municipality of Kalinovik and throughout BiH to raise their voice and condemn the instigation of hatred in the municipality of Kalinovik and the entire country and to stand against inflicting additional emotional pain and suffering on the victims of the crimes and the families of the victims of the last war.
