SARAJEVO, November 28 (FENA) - Youth and Culture Center of Centar municipality, in cooperation with Austrian Embassy to BiH, Austrian Cultural Forum Sarajevo and Office for Promotion of Culture of Austrian Federal Province of Styria are organizing a photo exhibition "Photo Graz Selection" on December 3 at "Jelićeva" photo gallery.
Exhibition includes works by 16 authors from Graz and its aim is to promote and support current photography scene in Graz and Styria.
Director of Austrian Cultural Forum Sabine Kernthaller stated at today's press conference that the exhibition is a special event for them because it is held within a ceremony on the occasion of opening of Austrian Cultural Forum.
"On the other hand, this exhibition shows the importance of Graz and Styria as representatives of many diverse connections and contacts between Austria and BiH. We are happy to further deepen and intensify those relations with this exhibition," said Kernthaller.
She emphasized that Austrian Cultural Forum is part of the Austrian Embassy, "which from now on will promote contemporary Austrian culture, artistic scene, and it will also serve as a platform for exchange between Austrian and BiH artists and scientists".
"We will focus on creative industry, science, art, women issues, gender issues, but also youth issues. Therefore, we are happy to announce this exhibition in Sarajevo Youth Center today, which also indicates the direction we want to take," emphasized Kernthaller.
She announced that several cultural events are planned for Monday, December 3, at the opening of Austrian Cultural Forum. Exhibition "Flags of Peace" will be opened in front of the National Theater, created by students from BiH and Austria, then the photo exhibition "Photo Graz Selection", and the official opening of Austrian Cultural Forum is taking place at 18:30 at the Youth Theater, whereas jazz concert by Austrian band will be held at "Jazzbina" jazz club on Monday evening.
Art Director of Jelićeva Photo Gallery Dženat Dreković said that exhibition "Photo Graz Selection" is a subtle, intimate approach to art of photography.
"We are used to seeing documentary photo exhibitions, and this is one of the first exhibitions in this gallery, even in Sarajevo, with this kind of approach. We can see several styles and directions, all leading to a more intimate and subtle approach," said Dreković.
Exhibition emphasizes extraordinary diversity of Austrian photography. Photographs show landscapes, nature and people and traces of their existence. They deal with stories, true stories, as well as fictional images and document society and its changes in the light of current events.
