Osmanović: Trend of BiH citizens giving up their citizenship continues (VIDEO)

SARAJEVO, December 28 (FENA) - Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH implemented series of projects in area of sport, education, culture, science and healthcare this past year and assumptions have been created for the new assembly of the Council of Ministers to continue realization of goals such as adoption of strategy in employment, education and culture.

This was stated today by Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH Adil Osmanović in Sarajevo today, adding activities should continue regarding amendments to law on demining, Agency for Medications and Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Data Exchange (IDEEA).

When it comes to projects implemented this past year, he mentioned assistance amounting to 1.9 million KM for financing of the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), which will be held in Sarajevo and Istočno Sarajevo this year.  

Regarding education, Ministry has made an appropriate manual for children of migrants in BiH and a portal for online education for children in diaspora.

This year marks 25 years of membership of BiH in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and "Picking OF Iva Grass on Ozren Mt." is enlisted in Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and this is third element from BiH.

Revised strategy of development of science in BiH up to 2022 has been adopted and grants were awarded in area of prevention of HIV and tuberculosis in BiH.

Minister noted they are working on drafting of necessary documents to sign an agreement on social security between BiH and Czech and Belgium, like the one signed with Switzerland.

When it comes to citizenship and travel documentation, trend of BiH citizens giving up their citizenship continued this year, although the number is much lower, and around 4000 people filed a request to give up their citizenship, mostly from those states with which BiH does not have agreements on dual citizenship.

Minister Osmanović regrets that he was not able to solve the issue of legal status of seven state cultural institutions during his mandate, adding that a solution should be found in the upcoming period to leave one part on state level, and move others to entity level.
