SARAJEVO, February 8 (FENA) - A documentary film "Chasing a Dream" by Mladen Mitrović will be shown on Tuesday, February 12, at a ceremony at the United Nations building in New York, at the initiative of the Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the UN, with the support of the permanent mission of the Republic of Serbia and under the auspices of UNESCO.
Autobiographical documentary odyssey was filmed over the period of more than five years on four continents, in 12 countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Russia, Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey, Iraq, Mexico and the United States.
Searching for the heroes of his first feature film “Haustorče” (1987), the pupils of the elementary school "Brotherhood and Unity" from Sarajevo, who have been scattered all around the world by the war that torn their childhood apart and wreaked havoc in their lives, the author travels nearly 50,000 kilometers-long journey on his quest.
This universal story of common life, sacrifices and friendships that goes beyond all boundaries and the horrors of war, he finally arrives to the 'home of all nations', the United Nations.
"Chasing a Dream" premiered in 2015, at the Sarajevo Film Festival, where it won the audience award, and four years later, with record-breaking ratings, it continues to be screened around the world, taking the viewers through the unpredictable depths of suppressed emotions.
A magical journey through the world of dreams and memories was produced by Balkan Art Center from Sarajevo, in cooperation with ‘Fabrika snova’ from Belgrade and Factum from Zagreb.
The film was supported by UNESCO, the Sarajevo Cinema Foundation, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH and the City of Sarajevo. In the course of its making, the film also became a part of the UN project entitled "Dialogue for the Future".
