Minister Borovac meets with the UN Working Group for enforced disappearances

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, February 11 (FENA) - Members of the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances met with the state Minister of Human Rights and Refugees Semiha Borovac and her associates in Sarajevo today.

UN Working Group is paying an official visit to BiH, where they will have a regular session this week but will also meet with associations of families of missing persons and BiH institutions in charge of the missing persons' issues.

It is a practice of the Working Group to hold one session per year, apart from regular sessions in Geneva, to learn more about this issue in the UN member states.

Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH is hosting the UN Working Group, whose significance even grew after adoption of the International Convention on Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance in December 1992, where apart from the humanitarian mandate, the Working Group was also entrusted to monitor progress of states in fulfilling commitments from the Convention and providing assistance to government in its implementation, Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH stated.
