Zvizdić and Borovac discuss missing persons with ICMP Director

SARAJEVO, March 4 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić and Minister of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH Semiha Borovac met with Director General of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) Kathryne Bomberger and discussed search process, which is crucial for reconciliation process in the region.

“Council of Ministers of BiH is very committed to issues of solving war crimes and search of missing persons and in that regard it has done everything in its power to close these difficult issues from the past and open doors to the future, doors of cooperation and trust in the region,” said Chairman Zvizdić.

Chairman emphasized that BiH CoM accepted draft amendments to the Agreement on co-establishment of the BiH Missing Persons Institute and it has been introduced in further procedure to the BiH Presidency. Council of Ministers of BiH also determined proposal for ratification of the international agreement according to which ICMP was established as the international organization and has been introduced to Parliamentary Assembly for further procedure.

He also welcomed the announcement of forming of a regional list of missing persons, which Director Bomberger informed them about at the meeting. All countries of the region will have access to that list and will be able to exchange information.

Chairman Zvizdić launched a regional campaign for revealing mass graves and asked ICMP to help in its implementation.

Director of ICMP informed Chairman Zvizdić and Minister Borovac about implementation of new technology in DNA analysis which enables identification of cases of cases that have not been solved so far.  

They agreed that cooperation with ICMP will continue, BiH CoM stated.
