SARAJEVO, March 25 (FENA) - International conference "Problem of Radioactive and Nuclear Waste Disposal at the location of Trgovska gora“ is taking place in Sarajevo today, and according to the organizers participants of the gathering will once again point to damaging cross-border impact this has on territory and population of BiH and further legal actions and civic initiatives towards stopping the procedure and preventing establishment/construction of the landfill for disposal of radioactive and nuclear waste.

Conference is organized by deputies of all levels of government in BiH who are gathered in the "Green Club" as members of different parliamentary parties.

Organizers stated that the procedure and activities that are implemented by the competent institutions in the Republic of Croatia for radioactive and nuclear waste disposal at the location of Trgovska Gora, which is near the border with BiH, members of the Green Club agreed it is necessary to organize a one-day international conference which will deal with the course of procedure of the aforementioned landfill.

Members of the Presidency and Council of Ministers of BiH have been invited to the gathering, as well as representatives of embassies of the EU member countries, deputies from all levels of government, representatives of entity and cantonal governments, representatives of competent ministries and agencies, professional and scientific public, and representatives of NGOs and international organizations involved in environmental protection.

Presidency of BiH issued several conclusions regarding this topic on Friday, and one of them was asking the Republic of Croatia to omit this location as a place for disposal of radioactive and nuclear waste and secure other adequate location for these purposes on its territory, which is not near the border with BiH.

It was concluded that the Chair of the BiH Presidency will send a letter to the President and Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia on behalf of the state presidency to inform them about this request.
