SARAJEVO, April 19 (FENA) - Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina Gordana Tadić stated today in Sarajevo that an investigation has not been completed in the case formally opened by the prosecution, referring to the allegations of recruitment of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina by Croatian intelligence service related to possible unlawful the activities of the members of the Salafi movement.

“In the first phase of our investigation, we determined that there was no recruitment of people. When it comes to the second phase – the investigation of BiH Security Minister Mektić for abuse of office in connection with the case, I cannot comment on that pending investigation,” said Tadić.

Speaking about the third phase of the affair investigation, she said they are cooperating with international teams from Croatia and Slovenia and that they are finalizing this phase as well.

“The third phase is coming to an end and refers to cooperation with colleagues in Croatia and Slovenia, and the BiH Prosecutor's Office will announce the results after the prosecutor's visit to Slovenia,” stated the Chief Prosecutor Tadić.

She believes that “things like these which can cause damage to citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina should not have come to the media before appropriate checks” and added that the Prosecution is the only competent institution for such cases.

Tadić was a participant in today's meeting in Sarajevo, where the OSCE Mission presented a report on corruption in BiH, based on the monitoring of court cases in this field.

The assessments in the report are negative in terms of the performance and effectiveness of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and the special department of the Prosecutor's Office of Republika Srpska, especially when it comes to the prosecution of the so-called high level corruption.
