BiH producers granted a permit for export of processing eggs to the EU

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, July 10 (FENA) - Bosnia and Herzegovina has been granted a permit for the export of processing eggs to the European Union market.

At the session of the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Animal Feed of the Section of for the Controls and Import Conditions, the European Commission gave a green light for the beginning of exports of this food type from BiH to the EU.

Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović points out that, following the approval of the chicken meat export, the export of eggs is another success for Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for the entire food industry.

“After many months of preparation, we managed to get this permit from the European Commission. This is a significant success as the export of eggs will increase the competitiveness of the poultry sector and overall production, not just eggs, but also the entire food industry.

So far, none of the products containing eggs from Bosnia and Herzegovina could be exported to the EU. This problem has been solved now and producers of composite products such as pasta, bakery products, etc., can now export their products freely to the EU” said Šarović.

The final placement of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the list of countries that have been granted export of processing eggs to the European Union market will follow in the coming weeks.

After receiving the permit for export of processing eggs, it is also planned to submit a request for obtaining a license for the export of consumer eggs, and the prerequisite is the approval of the Salmonella control plan.

Approval of the export of consumer eggs is also expected by autumn this year, announced the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH.
