SARAJEVO, February 23 (FENA) – Activists of the CURE Foundation shared materials as part of a campaign, on Saturday in downtown Sarajevo, that aims to support work of the Citizens for Constitutional Change Initiative.
Activist Vildana Džekman told reporters that one of their priorities is to work through a process of ensuring unique health, social and family protection through amendments to the BiH Constitution.
“This would mean that all residents have a unique and interconnected system, guaranteed at the state level. This is not currently possible. That is why we have uneven maternity benefits where there are differently regulated health care systems depending on the cantons,” she emphasized.
She added that these problems, divided systems affecting the quality of life of the population in BiH, have been discusses for years.
Activist Ajna Jusić said the main message of today's event is that constitutional changes are urgently needed, and actions like this should awake citizens' awareness of it.
The 'Citizens for Constitutional Change' Initiative has been in operation since 2014, and gathers a large number of women's organizations from across BiH and advocates for opening of the constitutional reform process.
