SARAJEVO, March 12 (FENA) - BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Staša Košarac, met today with Japanese Ambassador to BiH Hideyuki Sakamoto in Sarajevo and discussed enhancement of economic cooperation between BiH and Japan.
Ambassador Sakamoto informed Minister Košarac about current projects that Japan is implementing in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the focus of the talks was on Japanese investments in BiH's economic capacities.
The Minister welcomed Japan's involvement in the project on desulphurization of the Ugljevik Thermal Power Plant, which is in the final stages of implementation, the BiH Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations said.
The topic of the meeting was investing in the energy sector in BiH, and BiH is facing the requirements of the European Union and the Energy Community in terms of harmonization of domestic legislation with EU standards.
The interlocutors highlighted at the meeting need to strengthen the private sector with an emphasis on SME development, and Košarac recalled that all levels of government in BiH, adopting the Reform Agenda, have committed themselves to supporting the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and the real sector as a whole.
