MOSTAR, March 21 (FENA) - In the past 24 hours in Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC), 32 people were tested for Covid-19 virus, and two tests were positive.

One infected person is from Mostar, the other is from Konjic, and both cases are related to already known focus of infection in the two cities, said Director of the Public Health Institute of the HNC, Dr. Nermin Avdić.

“I think this is good news and I think we are on the right track to suppress the two clusters in Konjic and Mostar. Optimism must not be too high, as we know that secondary contacts may occur later, but we are pleased because we expected some, perhaps worse, results, said Dr Avdić.

He called on all secondary and tertiary contacts, who were in contact with people from the Mostar and Konjic clusters, to be put in 14-day self-isolation.

Dr. Avdić also commented on the health of the first infected person in Mostar. According to him, it is a male person over 50 years who did not have other chronic diseases.

“His condition has been unchanged since yesterday. We call this condition medium to severe. The patient is on a respirator and there have been no changes since yesterday,” he added.

HNC Minister of the Interior Sladjan Bevanda talked about the orders prescribed by the HNC Canton Civil Protection Headquarters and emphasized that the orders were generally obeyed.

Minister Bevanda explained that if found in a public space, people with a decision on self-isolation would be fined with 500 KM by the police. In case these people refuse to return to self-isolation, the police will arrest them and they could face the imprisonment for one to eight years, he added.
