Nenadić-Nelson: Centralized procurement system with UNDP gives excellent results

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, April 13 (FENA) - Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Mario Nenadić spoke today on the phone with US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson about the current situation in the Sarajevo Canton.

Prime Minister Nenadić informed the Ambassador that 70 people are currently coronavirus positive in the Sarajevo Canton, and four unfortunately passed away. He also briefed the Ambassador about functioning of the quarantine and possibilities of its extension, as well as with the isolation units and procurement of medical and protective equipment.

The Ambassador and the Prime Minister agreed that the model they had agreed on regarding the establishment of a centralized procurement system through UNDP produced excellent results.

Ambassador Nelson was interested in the improvement of primary health care, as well as in economic and other activities carried out in the Sarajevo Canton. The Prime Minister informed him that short-term measures have been taken for March, all with the aim of stabilizing the number of persons registered at the employment service offices.

US Ambassador emphasized that it is evident that the SC Government is doing its work responsibly. In his view, good measures are being taken and the number of tests since the start of the pandemic has increased significantly.

According to him, one of the key challenges is the distribution of aid, as well as the establishment of transparent and measurable criteria for helping all those who need that assistance.
