BANJA LUKA, May 15 (FENA) - A total of 333 samples were tested at the Institute of Public Health and the University Clinical Center of Republika Srpska in the past 24 hours, and coronavirus was confirmed in another 16 people in this BiH entity.
Minister of Health and Social Care Alen Šeranić said at a press conference in Banja Luka that the total number of infected people in RS has now increased to 1.217, while 542 people have recovered, and 86 people have died.
In the past 24 hours, 52 health workers were tested, and a medical technician from Prijedor tested positive for coronavirus. All disinfection measures were carried out in the hospital in that city.
“So far, about 1.500 health workers have been tested in the RS, of which more than 1.070 in the UKC Banja Luka. The coronavirus was confirmed in 28 doctors and 61 nurses in the RS. Nine doctors and eight nurses and technicians have recovered. Five of the total of 14 infected workers who work in health institutions, but are not medical professionals, have also recovered,” said Šeranić.
Coronavirus was also confirmed in 40 beneficiaries and 13 workers of nursing homes in RS.
Twenty-eight workers in kindergartens in RS were also tested, and coronavirus was confirmed in one kindergarten teacher from Derventa, and that facility was closed due to disinfection.
“When it comes to newly infected with coronavirus, there are 10 women and six men,” said Šeranić.
Four patients are on a ventilator at the University Clinical Center in Banja Luka.
So far, 20.303 laboratory tests for coronavirus have been carried out in RS.
