CEC’s decision to postpone local elections for November 15 was a lawful one

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, July 22 (FENA) - The Central Election Commission of BiH today received the Decision of the Court of BiH by which the appeal of the SNSD caucus in the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska against the decision of the Central Election Commission of BiH from May 23, 2020, to postpone the 2020 local elections, is rejected as unfounded.

The reasoning of the Decision, as they point out, states that "according to the Panel of the Appellate Division, the date of the postponed elections for November 15 does not constitute a violation of Article 14.2 paragraph 4 of the BiH Election Law, as the appellant unreasonably points out, but on the contrary, it is a proper application of the law in accordance with the basic principles of the Election Law of BiH regarding the general norms on the basis of which the day of the elections is determined," the Central Election Commission stated.

The Appellate Panel of the Court of BiH has found that the decision of the CEC BiH was justified and lawful and that the appeal of the SNSD was unfounded.
