SARAJEVO, August 19 (FENA) - Newly appointed Director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), Darko Ćulum, visited the Service for Foreigners' Affairs today. On that occasion, Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, Slobodan Ujić, informed Ćulum about current situation of the increased influx of migrants in BiH, and pointed out that subject of the Service's work in 2020 was more than 10,000 migrants.
The interlocutors agreed that the issue of an increased influx of illegal migrants is one of the key security challenges for Bosnia and Herzegovina and that joint action of all law enforcement agencies is needed in order for BiH to successfully deal with this issue.
The officials emphasized good cooperation so far between the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs and SIPA, which has achieved significant results in the fight against migrant smuggling, as well as all other forms of crime.
Director Ujić emphasized that the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs collects operational information and forwards them to the competent law enforcement agencies, especially when it comes to the exchange of information related to smuggling, human trafficking and the fight against terrorism, thus making a significant contribution to the security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, announced the Service for Foreigners' Affairs.
The Service identified 20 migrants who were determined to pose a threat to public order and security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in cooperation with the State Investigation and Protection Agency and the Intelligence Security Agency, successfully located and placed these persons in immigration center.
