SDA collegium supports Cikotić's plan for managing the migrant crisis

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, August 24 (FENA) - The Collegium of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) today gave its full support to plan for managing the migrant crisis prepared by Security Minister Selmo Cikotić, emphasizing that BiH will not and must not become collection center for a long-term stay of migrants.

SDA collegium urges government institutions at all levels to get involved in resolving the migrant crisis in accordance with their legal obligations.

The obligation and responsibility of the Council of Ministers to ensure as soon as possible all the conditions for managing the migrant crisis at the state level was especially emphasized.

“In that sense, we ask that urgent activities be initiated to protect the eastern border of BiH, where migrants enter our territory. We will continue to insist on the engagement of unarmed members of the Armed Forces of BiH on the eastern border and migrant routes. We also demand strengthening of the capacity of the Border Police, both in terms of staff and in the technical sense. We expect that police and security agencies from all parts of BiH will be involved in resolving the migrant crisis which would strengthen the presence and controls in the border zone under the command of the Border Police,” it is said in the statement.

SDA asks FBiH and cantonal police administrations to tighten controls in BiH cities and punish migrants who violate public order. They ask state and other prosecutors to start prosecuting migrants who violate public order and violate BiH laws, as well as to prosecute persons involved in the reception and transport of migrants and trafficking in human beings more rigorously.

The Party of Democratic Action insists that the burden of the migrant crisis be distributed on the entire territory of BiH, and not only on the areas where Bosniaks are the majority.

Representatives of the SNSD and HDZ are being asked to stop obstructing the necessary decisions at the state level, which will enable better management of the migrant crisis.

“It is hypocritical for the RS entity authorities and Milorad Dodik to reject all decisions, from strengthening the eastern border to deploying migrants to the entire territory of BiH, and then to accuse representatives of Bosniak politics of wanting migrants to stay in BiH. It is clear that behind all this is an Islamophobic policy that wants to accuse Bosniaks of all the security problems that the migrant crisis brings with it. SDA demands a more decisive approach from the European Union and organizations that manage the migrant crisis, such as the UNHCR and the IOM, as well as greater technical and material assistance to the BiH institutions,” it was pointed out.

In the second conclusion, it was emphasized that Aleksandar Vučić continues to deliberately replace the thesis thus justifying the paternalistic and duplicitous policy that Serbia is pursuing against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They claim that the Serbian President accuses the SDA and the Bosniak political leadership of quarreling and constantly provoking crises, because they react to his constant interference in BiH's internal affairs, tolerating Dodik's separatist statements on a weekly basis - often in Vučić's company, to the fact that Serbia provides refuge to convicted war criminals like Novak Đukić, for Serbia to arrest BiH defenders and try them in Belgrade on the basis of fabricated indictments, etc.

Therefore, things are completely the opposite - Bosniaks and SDA do not provoke crises, nor attack Serbia and Serbs, but Dodik causes crises by attacking BiH and Bosniaks, and Vučić encourages him with his silence.

Also, SDA believes that the status of Kosovo and the internal organization of BiH can not be linked under any circumstances and that the Republika Srpska can exist only as a BiH entity or not exist at all.
