SARAJEVO, August 27 (FENA) - The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SSSBiH) today marked 115 years of the trade union movement in BiH.

At the press conference in the Trade Unions Center of BiH in Sarajevo, the president of SSSBiH Selvedin Šatorović said that today's position of the trade unions is not enviable, but that this organization clearly and precisely expresses its demands in the best interest of workers.

"At today's session of the presidency of the SSSRBiH, we reiterated that we will not deviate from our request that the minimum salary should be 1,000 KM.

We have analyzed everything that the expert group of the Federation has done so far regarding our proposals for amendments to the Labor Law concerning emergency situations, and I think that, regardless of the division within the Federation of Independent Trade Unions, we will still be able to impose solutions that are not exclusively in the interest of employers and the Government, but also concerning the workers themselves," stated Šatorović.

He expressed confidence that their activities so far, as social partners, have contributed to preventing the adoption of hasty solutions that would be against the interests of workers. Workers in BiH, Šatorović noted, should have the rights that they deserve and the same rights as the workers in EU countries.
