Podžić and Pósa discuss the 'Reform Program' and BiH's NATO integration process

SARAJEVO, September 16 (FENA) - Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sifet Podžić, talked today with the Ambassador of Hungary to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Krisztián Pósa, and his associates.

Podžić informed Ambassador Pósa about the current activities being implemented in the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH), with special reference to the activities from the  "Reform Program" document and the obligations that this ministry has implemented in accordance with its operational competencies.

The two emphasized the important role of the Embassy of Hungary in BiH, as the contact embassy for the NATO integration process of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for which Minister Podžić expressed special gratitude to Ambassador Pósa.

They also talked about the upcoming activities related to the evaluation of the battalion combat group of light infantry - NEL-1, planned to be held on September 21 to 25 at the AFBiH combat training ground in Manjača.

The interlocutors stated that, despite the pronounced difficulties related to the situation with the Covid-19 pandemic and the reduced budget for defense, the Ministry of Defense and the AFBiH implemented a significant number of activities and obligations.

Ambassador Poša expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of BiH and especially pointed out the implemented activities related to the Reform Program, which was submitted by BiH to the NATO headquarters in Brussels.

He informed Minister Podžić that the Hungarian government would continue to assist Bosnia and Herzegovina and especially the Ministry of Defense and that his government would secure160,000 euros in funding through the OSCE Mission to BiH to improve the security of weapons and ammunition depots in the possession of the BiH Armed Forces.

The Embassy of Hungary in BiH, as a contact embassy for NATO, will continue to assist our country in this process and will focus on the presentation and promotion of positive and very useful examples and benefits that this process brings, as evidenced by the examples of neighboring countries, but also Hungary, which has been a member of NATO for some time now, stated the Public Relations Office of MoD BiH.
