Tegeltija and UN Resident Coordinator Macdonald discuss current situation in BiH

SARAJEVO, September 22 (FENA) - BiH Council of Ministers Chairman Zoran Tegeltija talked today in Sarajevo with the delegation of the United Nations in BiH, led by the UN Resident Coordinator in BiH Ingrid Macdonald.

The officials discussed the current state of affairs in BiH and the region, with an emphasis on the possibility of carrying out activities in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, and within the socio-economic response and recovery from the "Covid-19" virus in BiH, the BiH Council of Ministers said.

Representatives of the UN delegation in BiH presented to the Chairman of the Council of Ministers a proposal for a socio-economic response and recovery from "Covid-19" in BiH, based on the Program for Sustainable Development 2030 (Agenda 2030).

Tegeltija welcomed the activities of the UN through its agencies in BiH and stressed the importance of providing equal support to all levels of government in BiH, in order to ensure balanced development and recovery, and stressed the need to launch a new investment cycle as soon as possible to respond quickly to the crisis caused by coronavirus pandemic, which has affected BiH, but also the countries of the region and the world.

Tegeltija stressed that it would be very important for BiH to be among the countries that would be funded with priority from the Mutual Fund of Partners for Assistance to Countries in the Fight Against the Covid-19 Pandemic, established by the UN Secretary-General.

During the meeting, they jointly pointed out the importance of involving all relevant institutions in BiH that would work harder with UN agencies to implement measures aimed at protecting and strengthening health systems, preserving jobs and strengthening the economy, and promoting social cohesion and investing in the resilience and response systems of society.

On this occasion, Chairman Tegeltija expressed gratitude to the UN representatives for all previous activities in BiH, emphasizing that UNDP in the previous period showed its ability to successfully implement projects and improve capacity at all levels of government while respecting constitutional competencies.
