SARAJEVO, October 7 (FENA) - Officers of the Gradiška Border Police Unit and the Support and Control Unit of the Northwest Gradiška Field Office of the BiH Border Police prevented the smuggling of 12 persons of Afro-Asian origin on Tuesday night in the area of Gradiška.
Two citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina were smuggling the migrants in two vehicles, the BiH Border Police announced.
When trying to stop, the driver of the Škoda vehicle with BiH register plates, disobeyed the orders of the police officers and fled, while another vehicle went off the road and landed in the canal.
Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska stopped the suspected BiH citizens in the area of the municipality of Novi Grad and detained them until the arrival of members of the BiH Border Police.
Illegal migrants did not have identification documents, and in a conversation with the officials, they stated that they came from Pakistan.
