SARAJEVO, October 26 (FENA) - The infectious ward for the accommodation of Covid patients with mild and moderate symptoms, with a capacity of 30 beds, was opened today at the General Hospital "Prim. Dr. Abudlah Nakaš", and the first patients are expected today.
Acting Director of that hospital, Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović said that they had been working on equipping that department for the last seven days, because they noticed an increase in the number of patients with coronavirus.
He reminded that since July 17, according to the order of the Ministry of Health of SC, the General Hospital has become an institution that takes care of citizens for the level of secondary health care, which is about 90 percent of patients who require hospital treatment.
He pointed out that it is very important for the health system to remain open, regardless of the epidemic, because there are also long-term diseases, and the progression of the disease is not stopped by treating only one type of disease.
Gavrankapetanović pointed out that they asked the SC Government for additional employment of medical staff, and he expressed hope that this would be possible for them.
He also reminded of the construction of isolation ward in the 'former garrison ambulance' and said that he expected that space to be awarded to them.
He told the citizens to adhere to the measures and recommendations, which are to wear masks, keep their distance and reduce contacts.
“There is no reason to panic, the situation is difficult, but the measures we are taking are stronger than the virus,” concluded Gavrankapetanović.
