FBiH PM and Turkish Ambassador take part in nature conservation campaign

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 11 (FENA) - FBiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić took part in the "Breath for the Future" campaign and pointed out the importance of nature conservation, the PR Office of the FBiH Government announced.

This morning, Novalić joined the campaign by planting two spruce seedlings on the picnic area Barice in Sarajevo.

The program "Breath for the Future, Breath for the World" was launched at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the goal of planting new seedlings is to send a message of synergy and awareness of a sustainable future and environment.

Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Haldun Koc, also attended the event in Barice and together with the FBiH Prime Minister planted a young spruce.

On that occasion, the FBiH Prime Minister talked to the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan via video link who also attended the same event which was being held in Turkey at the same time.

The FBiH Prime Minister informed that 1,000 seedlings were planted in Barice on this occasion, and the Turkish President, among other things, announced the continuation of care for nature.

“No social development anywhere on our planet is possible if man destroys nature. Man is a part of nature and it must remain so. That is why such moves mean much more than one symbolically planted tree. We in Bosnia and Herzegovina know that it is one of our greatest treasures, but also that the beauty of our nature is largely intact and we want to preserve it,” said the FBiH Prime Minister.

“Personally, this means a lot to me and I am grateful for the honor to support the preservation of our environment in this way. I am a sincere lover of nature and I am aware of its importance. On the other hand, I am worried about the lack of awareness about ecology and I would be really happy if our future generations grow up caring for nature and are constantly educated about the proper relationship between man and nature,” Novalić added.

Ambassador Koc explained that the Turkish President himself initiated a project that can be an example to the whole world, and that more than ten million seedlings have been planted through this project. He thanked Prime Minister Novalić for participating in this program.

This morning, as part of this program, the seedlings were planted in about 30 countries around the world, including, in addition to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey, Albania, Azerbaijan and Northern Cyprus.

The project in BiH was implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Turkey with the General Directorate of Forestry of the Republic of Turkey, the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in BiH, TIKA, Public Institution Sarajevošume, the FBiH Forestry Administration and the Association of Engineers and Technicians of FBiH.
