BIHAĆ, December 22 (FENA) - Citizens of Bihać gathered in the afternoon in front of the entrance to the recently closed Reception Center "Bira" in the city center and, according to them, prevented the return of the first group of migrants from the camp in Lipa.
At around 16:00, three transport vehicles of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) were prevented from entering the area of this closed migration-center, but there is still no official confirmation that there were about fifty users of the "Lipa" camp, as claimed by the gathered citizens.
The vehicles were prevented from entering, but there were no major incidents, i.e. disturbances of public order and peace, and everything happened under the control of police officers.
“We have been protesting at this place for more than 70 days because we no longer want to go through the situation while two thousand people were accommodated at this center. We are disappointed with the instructions of the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Selmo Cikotić, on the temporary reopening of Bira. We will not allow that and believe that there will be more and more of us here,” said local Fadil Dizdarević.
These events were preceded by the fact that members of the Operational Group for the Situation with Migrants in Una-Sana Canton (USC) after today's meeting confirmed that instructions from the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina had been submitted for reopening the Bira Migration Center until the construction works are completed at the Lipa campsite.
